Overview

The WordPress Update Management page allows you to centrally manage WordPress core updates across all customer websites, synchronize builder folders, and perform bulk update operations.

Builder Folder Update

What is Builder Folder?

The builder folder contains WordPress core files (wp-admin, wp-includes, and core PHP files) that are synchronized across all websites. This centralized approach ensures consistency and simplifies updates. Update Path:
  • From: {SYSTEM_ROOT}/builder/wordpress-includes
  • To: /home/*/domains/*/public_html/builder

Updating Builder Folders

  1. Click Update Builder Folders button
  2. System synchronizes WordPress core files to all websites
  3. Updates apply to:
    • Template websites
    • Client websites
    • All WordPress installations
Critical Operation: Builder folder updates affect ALL WordPress websites on your platform. Ensure you have backups before proceeding.
When to Update: Update builder folders after downloading a new WordPress version or when you need to apply security patches across all sites.

WordPress Core Download

Downloading Latest WordPress

  1. Click Download Latest WP Version button
  2. System downloads the latest WordPress version from WordPress.org
  3. Files are extracted to: {SYSTEM_ROOT}/builder/wordpress-core/wordpress/
  4. Current system version is displayed after download
What Gets Downloaded:
  • Latest stable WordPress core files
  • All default themes and plugins
  • WordPress admin interface
  • Core PHP files and libraries
System Version: After downloading, the system displays the current WordPress version available for deployment to websites.

Bulk Website Updates

Updating Multiple Sites

  1. Click Bulk Update Sites button
  2. Modal opens with list of all WordPress websites
  3. Select websites to update:
    • Select All: Check all websites
    • Select Templates: Only template sites
    • Select Live Sites: Only client sites
  4. Click Update Selected button
  5. Updates process sequentially

Update Process

For each selected website, the system:
  1. Removes old wp-admin directory
  2. Removes old wp-includes directory
  3. Copies new WordPress core PHP files
  4. Copies new wp-admin directory
  5. Copies new wp-includes directory
  6. Preserves wp-content (themes, plugins, uploads)
  7. Maintains database and configuration
Backup First: Always backup websites before bulk updates. While the process preserves wp-content, unexpected issues can occur.

Individual Site Actions

Update Single Site:
  1. Click update button next to website
  2. WordPress core files are updated immediately
  3. Website version refreshes automatically
Download Backup:
  1. Click download button next to website
  2. Complete website backup is generated
  3. Backup downloads as ZIP file
